      A Line Between Two Points
16 June – 22 July 2018

Two fascinating artists. Two distinct practices. Two very different people. And one extraordinary show

It’s a rare and powerful combination of work that also heralds the formal representation of both Monique Lacey and Rebecca Wallis by The Vivian.

The title of this show, ‘A Line Between Two Points’ comes from the poet Charles Olson. Olson, was no stranger to contemporary art, having been visiting professor, then Rector, of the highly regarded Black Mountain College in North Carolina, where he mixed with students and faculty members such as Josef and Anni Albers, Walter Gropius, Robert Motherwell, Cy Twombly, Robert Rauschenberg, John Cage, and Willem and Elaine de Kooning. Olson wrote that a poem is essentially a ‘line between any two points in creation.’

The creators in this instance, are the artists, Monique Lacey and Rebecca Wallis. The two points, are their separate bodies of work. And the line? That’s uniquely between you, and the extraordinary artworks you’ll experience in this show
